Hunting

With 2800 acres of free-range habitat, GBL is a great place to hunt. We offer a hunting program designed to give hunters flexibility, to sustain a diverse population of native wildlife, and to control the population of exotic, non-native, game.

GBL hunts are generally semi-guided, meaning we take our hunters out, but do not stay with them. Therefore, we encourage all our guests to become familiar with the type of game they are likely to see in the Hill Country. This knowledge will help you decide which animals to harvest.

Texans looking for quality hunting, but limited on time or opportunity, find GBL a better value than participation in a traditional long-lerm lease. Out-of-state guests enjoy a great Texas Hill Country experience.

Day Hunts - October 1, 2010 through January 2, 2011, we offer a small group day hunt for up to 4 guests for a fee of $500/group/day, lodging included. Your group will be provided lodging, transportation on the ranch, and morning coffee. Two additional guests may be added to the group for a fee of $125/hunter/day or $40/non-hunter/day.  All day hunters are encouraged to take a hog or two at no charge; other game is available for an additional fee - see the fee list under Add-ons.

Package Hunts -
January 3, 2011 through September 30, 2011, we host package hunts. We will host your group of 3 - 6 hunters for 2 to 3 days. Each hunter will pay $400 which covers lodging and one or more manager's choice animals at no additional cost. Other game is available for an additional charge - see the fee list under Add-ons.  The ranch managers will use annual census and harvest data to determine which animals to offer at no charge on these package hunts. Non-hunting guests may be included for $80 each. The maximum total number of guests is limited to 6.  Accommodations include lodging, light refreshments, and transportation within the ranch. Additional time to hunt will be made available, when possible, for $125/day/hunter (lodging included) or $50/hunter for an extra half day.

Applies to All Hunts
All game is "hunter's choice."  If you pre-pay for an animal and do not take it, the "Add-on" fee will be returned.

Check in is after 2 pm; Check out is before Noon.

Please Note:  We have a policy of one guest 17 or under per group.

Seasons are established annually for each county by the Texas Parks & Wildlife.

GBL Ranch is in
Edwards County. Harvest is subject to state regulations and license restrictions- see Texas Parks and Wildlife for more information.

** We offer hunting of exotic sheep and goats. The exotic sheep are variations of Corsican or Texas Barbado. Goats are Catalina and feral brush goats.

Since both male and female goats have horns, we set goat fees at "short horns" (horns 10" or less) or "big horns" (horns more than 15") to help distinguish between meat and trophy animals.

*** Hunters are asked to take mature bucks and will be charged a $400 fee for taking a "button buck."
